On Friday, October 25 we held our first Reggio-Inspired Mathematics Mini-Conference as part of the BCAMT Fall Conference at Guildford Park Secondary in Surrey.
We began with an overview session in the gym where I shared the background to our cross-district professional inquiry project and how think about Reggio-inspired principles and practices with stories from classrooms. Some of the slides can be found here:

After the overview session, registered attendees moved into special interest sessions upstairs in the science wing. All of the presenters in the special interest sessions are classroom teachers in our cross-district professional inquiry project. We also had a studio space set up with materials for attendees to interact with and be inspired by.
Acclaimed Sechelt weaver, Jessica Silvey, joined us as an artist in residence in our studio space and shared her weaving and cultural knowledge with attendees. A handout with information about connections between weaving and mathematics and well as Jessica's contact information can be downloaded here:
We had our book, magazine and new sets of pedagogical provocation postcards (in both English and French) available for purchase. Contact Janice at [email protected] if you are interested in purchasing any materials.
As presenters share presentation information with me, I will update this post!

Thank you to the BCAMT fall conference committee for giving this idea of a "conference within a conference" a try. We look forward to any feedback attendees have. A very special thank you to all the presenters who gave their hearts to this event. Another big thank you to the rest of our network who stuffed bags, contributed ideas and feedback, checked registrants in with a smile and helped out on the day of the conference.
with much appreciation, and a very full heart
