Where does math live in winter? How does the snow on the mountains inspire mathematical thinking and wonders?
Join Lauren and Janice up at Cypress on Saturday, February 17 2018 at 10am for a mathematical snowshoeing adventure. We will snowshoe the Hollyburn Meadows trail together up to Hollyburn Lodge. Bring your snowshoes if you have them or there are rentals available. Attendees are responsible for the cost of their trail pass and rentals if necessary. A trail pass for adults for the day is $12. More information about snowshoeing at Cypress can be found HERE.
We will continue our conversations over lunch or you may want to continue making use of your trail pass for the day!
What math do you see? What questions does this place inspire? There are interpretive signs along the trail that will provide some factual information about the local flora and fauna.
How is a map created? What mathematical concepts and competencies are involved in creating a map of a place?
We will meet near the ticket booth and the large map of the trails where there are benches there to put on your snowshoes. The ticket and rental prices are...
And the rental hut is just across from the ticket booth.
