On November 9, the primary teachers at Sullivan Elementary in Surrey hosted the BCAMT Reggio-Inspired Mathematics Project cross-district meeting.
We had district teams from nine districts represented. Districts set up displays to share the work they have been doing around this project in their districts. Each district takes up the project in different ways and we can learn so much from each other.

After a lovely dinner together, we spent some time discussing a focus for our group this year - spatial reasoning and thinking. I shared several examples of tasks from the book Taking Shape - an excellent resource. Many teachers were interested in the chapter on "coding" and mapping and the spatial reasoning that is involved in those experiences. Sandra Ball challenged us to take something up from our learning and share it at our next cross-district dinner meeting.
Thank you to Sandra Ball and Lilah Martin and the teachers of Sullivan for hosting us!
