bean seeds

I brought in some green beans for the students to observe, take apart and taste. I was surprised that some of the students didn't realize that the beans inside the bean pods were what became the seeds for a new bean plant. 

The students were then given a Scarlet Runner bean seed to observe before planting it.

I found some compostable cups made from sugar cane fibers which I thought was kind of cool. We talked about how the cups were essentially made of plant fibers.

So our bean seeds are planted and we'll be looking for some growth when we get back from the long weekend!
