This afternoon was a balmy 8 degrees and it was sunny. I seized the window of thirty minutes I had before Colin came home from school and hopped on my bike. I didn't really get off to a good start and had a bit of a fall before I even left our neighbourhood. Why don't drivers think signalling is necessary anymore? Grrr.
After I picked myself up, examined the damage (to me and my bike) and got across the street, I decided I had to keep going. With my bike seat askew, I rode up and down the main street near our house which happens to have fabulous bike lanes.
Neil has a little family cycling trip planned for us in August and I am determined to be able to do it and to not hold my family up. I know I am going to have to work towards this trip and so for the first few months of the year, I am going to try and get out on my bike once a week. I think that's realistic for me and I will just have to be flexible and get out when the weather is okay.
I'll be starting small and then gasp, I am going to have to leave Richmond and tackle some hills! Luckily, I can put the seats down in the back of my car and throw my bike in so I can get out and explore some different areas.
And I'm guessing there'll be some photo documentation along the way!
