In August was all about family and travel. Colin, Neil and I flew to Japan on August 2 and Adam flew over from South Korea to join us. We knew this would be a trip of a lifetime - we can see our "family of four" trips being few and far between as the boys get older and have growing responsibilities with school and work. We visited Osaka, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Kyoto and Tokyo, staying in Air BnBs and travelling by train between cities, enjoying the local food and sites. It was the trip of family selfies. So many amazing experiences!
Kyoto and surrounding area:
Neil created a video for each day of our trip (about 3 minutes each) - the links are here in chronological order:
With only a one day turn around at home, the boys and I joined my sisters and the all the cousins in Kelowna for our annual Okanagan trip. Fun in the sun on the lake and this year we rented bike and rode along the trestle bridges - such an amazing experience (I know...no helmets...weren't required but still made me uncomfortable). While we were there, we used the viewing glasses I ordered through NASA to watch the solar eclipse. Times are changing -the boys drive up and down - first time for me being the passenger on this trip.
It was really a lovely, full summer.
New schools for Colin and Neil, new experiences coming for us all. Looking forward to September and all that it will bring.
