On April 1st I had the honour of helping to pull the ropes to raise the Reconciliation Pole at UBC. I met Margaret and Alex Choinski and we held our spots along a rope together. So much significance in the pole and the experience.
There was lots of travel for work again for me - I spent a week in San Antonio attending my first NCSM conference and then helping to host the NCTM Annual Conference as part of the program committee.
I visited Victoria for a few days to do some work with the Ministry of Education. I love Victoria.
At the end of April, I visited Niagara Falls. I was invited to do a keynote presentation for a conference - it was all quite exciting. I had an amazing view of the falls from my room but also enjoyed walk-in down along the falls, feeling the mist and hearing the roaring sound of the water. At night, there's quite a light show too. The last and only other time I have visited Niagara Falls was when my sister was living in Toronto and I took Adam (at eight months old) with me - he doesn't remember it.
Easter brunch - finding a time to come together for a meal together is getting harder and harder as the boys get older.
For Adam, April was all about final exams. For Colin, April was all about ultimate. Lots of practices, after school games and then the big Spring Reign tournament in Burlington Washington.
And the blooms - spring is in full bloom around where we live.
