The rain finally arrived last Friday. I had been holding off doing the final clean up of the garden because the weather had been so amazing and I was hoping for a few more ripe black cherry tomatoes! I drove the boys to school and realized that I better get to it as the rains were probably only going to get worse. I pulled on my boots and rainjacket and pulled my last few annuals out of their pots, took down the hanging baskets and picked the ripe tomatoes.
I pulled out the tomato plants and added them to our green can and noticed the bright red leaves of the strawberry plants. Clearly the nights are getting colder and the plants are going into dormant mode.
The pots are put away for another year and the soil is ready to rest.
The autumnal colour brightened a dreary day...Colin's tree, the hydrangeas and sedum.
So goodnight garden...have a good long rest and I'll see you around March!
