On Wednesday evening we hosted our annual end of summer event with a group of friends. This year, there was no fancy theme, crafts, activities or take home treat bags prepared. To myself, I was calling it the lame-o PhD BBQ because I actually priortized my writing and didn't go all out with the event! I called upon my very good friends and everyone chipped in with food and some fun games for the kids. I picked up a few groceries, Adam made his watermelon punch, I threw up a few streamers and balloons and we were good to go!
Colin helped entertain the little ones and Adam helped grill our dinner. Michelle organized the Wacky Food Olympics - the kids slurped whipped cream, ate marshmallows from a string, drank water through licorice and had a bubble gum blowing contest.
We had Hannah's cupcakes and icecream sundaes for dessert before settling inside to watch a movie as the sky darkened, but not before we saw an amazing double rainbow!
So maybe it wasn't so lame-o afterall.
good friends + good food + good fun + some balloons = good times!

Nothing you do is ever lame-o!!!!!

I think it is so nice how the children in your mommy group, who are of various ages, mix and play so well. You can tell they have a genuine affection for each other.
