This morning I headed over to Richmond's Sharing Farm for their Saturday market and picked up some fresh salad greens, arugula, kale, carrots and garlic scapes.
I then went and picked up a few groceries, went to to Heringers and stopped at a local farm stand for more strawberries and nugget potatoes and then a last stop at my favourite little raspberry grower down the street from us. Raspberry season is upon us!
When I got home I read Lindsay Anderson's latest blog post at 365 Days of Dining in Richmond and was inspired by a yummy salad she had at a local restaurant. Neil was grilling some smoked salmon and with that and other local ingredients, my lunch was created.
After lunch, I used the garlic scapes, and the recipe from the Sharing Farm's blog, to make some garlic scape pesto. I used the arugula and scapes from the farm and used sunflower seeds.
With dinner this evening we had fresh local nugget potatoes tossed in the pesto.
