So the weekend got off to a good start...
I had a nice long meeting with my grad advisor on Friday and it left me feeling really positive. I met a friend later in the day and we put down our deposit for a great trip next spring break and we had a quiet evening at home.
I have wanted a macro lens for my Nikon for a long time but they are just so expensive and I just can't justify the expense, even if it was a gift. I have been envious of some of the amazing macro shots of her garden that Christy has been posting on facebook and instagram. I have seen lenses on photojojo that you can clip onto your iPhone, including a macro lens. When Christy told me that I could buy an olloclip at London Drugs, I headed there Saturday afternoon. There goes half of my "fun" money for the month! I was giddy with excitement...skipping around our backyard like a little girl, taking macro shots.
Oh my word, I am so pleased with the quality of the images!
The weekend was peppered with homework projects, exercise, time with friends, reading and chores but on Sunday I got in some more time with my olloclip. It actually has three lenses - a wide angle, a fish eye and the macro. While on a walk with Sarah, I experimented with all three.
The wide angle...
The fish eye...
(yes, need to watch my finger!)
And the macro...
I think the macro has a way of elevating the ordinary to the extraordinary - an expression from a trilogy of books I finished today. Love seeing the world this way!
