Today was Colin's last Friday of elementary school. This is signficant because Fridays are "short Fridays" - the boys' elementary school has a 1:00pm dismissal (they start at 8:40 instead of 9 to make up for this). I have always tried to arrange my work schedule so that I don't work Friday afternoons and over the years the boys and I have done all sorts of little outings on Friday afternoons. It has been such a nice start to the weekends.
This morning, I attended the school's recognition assembly and Colin got a few certificates for volunteer work he has done for the school.
The rain held off just long enough for the kids to enjoy their annual picnic outside. Colin's group planned a well-balanced meal: candy bags, watermelon, pop and smores cookies (yes, made by me as per a special request).
Afterschool, Colin had a little basketball wind-up party and then he came home and he really just wanted to play Minecraft with some friends and Adam. So no special outing this short Friday, but another "last" has come and gone.
