Every once in awhile on holiday, you need a recovery day. Monday was that for us. After hiking and snorkeling and beaching and taking in all the sites and with three of us now fighting a cold, Colin requested a "chill" day to just hang out around the hotel. We went down for breakfast then hung out in our room for awhile and then the boys and Neil swam in the pool while I did some reading. It was really hot today and Neil got us some yummy fruit smoothies.
We went back to the room and "chilled" for a few hours before walking down to a local beach called Magic Sands or Disappearing Sands depending on who you talk to. During storms or high tides, the surf takes away all the beautiful white sand from the beach, leaving rock. The sand then is brought back by the surf. As we were walking down just after 3, we noticed the school bus stopping along the road to let high school students off. The beach was getting pretty busy as we got there but the boys had a great time playing in the waves and watching the "locals" do tricks on their boogie boards.
After showers, we drove into town to do some gift shopping. We saw another humpback whale out in the bay as we had dinner at a great restaurant on the beach. A great pair of musicians/singers called The Tiki Dolls were playing folky Hawaiian music and it was a great way to spend the evening before heading back to our room to do some more chillin'.
