Early Friday morning, Adam and I dropped Colin off at school and then we hit the road for his hockey tournament in Bremerton. We decided to take the I5 to Tacoma and cut over to the island instead of risking the ferry. It was all good until my rearview mirror was filled with flashing red and blue lights. I got a speeding ticket. Couldn't argue with the officer, it was my fault - I hadn't noticed it switched from 70 to 60 but geesh, I was going to the same speed as everyone else around me. Adam (who is a year away from driving) and I had a good little discussion about it all.
We got to the arena just in time. The team had a bit of a slow start and were down 1-0 for the first two periods against the local team from Kitsap County.
Adam scored in the third to tie it up.
His team played really well after the goal but we finished tied. Hopefully they'll win at least one of their games and avoid having to play at 6am on Sunday morning for the start of the playoffs!
After the team dinner, Adam and I spent the evening together which was really nice. Its really not very often anymore that we get one on one time. He sought out my advice in buying a winter coat at PacSun, we spent an hour in Barnes and Noble (book people that we are) and then hit Target. Adam also filled up his first tank of gas and we had a little adventure going the wrong way (sort of ) on a street. Adam freaked out a little and actually said, "we're going to die" but it really wasn't that bad ;) Adam's comment about the trip today was "driving with you today has been more eventful than usual Mom".
Hmm...it was Friday the 13th now that I think about it. Not that I'm superstitious or anything. And Adam likes 13 - he wears it on his jersey. When I asked him why he liked it, he shrugged and I started on the prime number thing and he stopped me and said, "don't get all mathy on me, Mom."
So today had its ups and downs but really, in the big scheme of things, I got to spend the day with my oldest son, and that in itself made up for everything.

Oh my gosh Janice - I just paid the speeding ticket I got the week before Christmas break on Steveston Hwy - so irritating!!! Glad you had a good time with Adam.
