I usually make a small batch of chocolate medallions to add to the holiday dessert buffets that are at our family dinners. These treats are traditionally French and served on Christmas Eve. Some years the medallions have looked more artisanal, but this year I used my chocolate oreo pop molds and these have a less homemade look to them.
I started by melting some milk chocolate and then pouring it into the molds. A variety of fruits and nuts/seeds were added: dried cranberries, dried apricots, cashews, toasted almonds, toasted coconut and pistachios.
You could add drizzles of darker chocolate on top. I kept them pretty simple this year. I've done them before when the boys have made them toppings such as chocolate chips, crushed candy canes and mini-marshmallows. Those are fun.
They are yum and I think they are very pretty too. These would make a great gift, such as a little hostess gift.
