first snow

It started snowing on Thursday evening...Colin's birthday. We'll always remember what day we had the first snowfall of the season this year!

When we got up on Friday morning, we just had a light dusting of snow on the ground. This photo from our backyard captures this transitional time of year perfectly...the changing of the seasons from autumn to winter. I love living somewhere with four seasons and the changes each season brings. I love the thought of snowmen in the front yard, cozy fires in the fireplace, hot chocolate and all the other things that winter brings and this snow was a reminder that winter is just around the corner.

We haven't had our first snow yet, but it is still really cold! What a pretty picture.
