Since the boys were born, Neil and I have made them each something for their birthdays. It started out with quilts and wooden toys and then progressed to things like science kits, ladders and rock walls. Neil and I looked forward to creating those special birthday presents from the heart. As the boys have gotten older, it has been harder to come up with ideas. The last few years have involved photo projects of some sort - mini books, framed photos with quotes, shadow boxes or photo canvases.
Above are the boys "12" books, created with the Bind-It-All. It was fun looking at them side by side today and noticing how Adam has changed so much and how he and Colin are so similar yet so different at the same age of 12.
For Adam's 12th birthday, I made him a little book with 12 of my favourite photos of him - one from each of the months from the past year.
For Colin's 12th birthday, I created a little book with photos from 12 special places he's been in the last year.
I didn't quite have it finished for present opening time but finished it later in the evening and placed it on his pillow. I listened to him walk up the stairs to bed, waited a couple of minutes and then heard a "thanks mom".
