While we were on holidays last week, we listened to the audio book of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (book five) as we drove to and from Oregon. I've lost track of how many times we've read and listened to the books but they never grow old for us. We planned to watch the movie tonight and I decided to make us a few treats mentioned in this particular book.
I used this recipe again and used our new glass mugs I bought at a kitchen outlet store when we were in Oregon.
We also had some pumpkin pasties. These were enjoyed by the students on their ride out to Hogwarts on the Hogwarts Express.
I found a few recipes on the internet and went with this one, but used my own pie crust recipe. Colin helped put these together and learned about crimping pastry dough together and egg washes.
We used Colin's favourite gingerbread recipe but I added a bit of extra ginger. I thought I had a lizard cookie cutter in my crazy collection but I couldn't find it so I made do...I drew a newt on a piece of paper, cut it out and lay it on top of the cookie dough and traced around it with a knife. The feet were a little tricky! I'm glad I was only making four!
