We've talked about Adam cutting the lawn for awhile now but it just hasn't happened, until yesterday. Adam was asked by friends to cut their lawn a few times while they were away this summer so we thought he should do it at least once at our house first. Neil took him out and coached him through it and Adam did a fabulous job.
When the boys were little, there were so many milestones...first words, walking, first loose tooth, riding a bike, going to school, etc. As the boys get older there are fewer of these "first time" things but the milestones that do occur, like cutting the lawn, remind me how much closer they are getting to adulthood. Bittersweet in some ways but oh so proud in others. I was beaming when I looked out the window and saw my young man with the lawnmower.
This is this week's The Simple Things photo.

One giant step into growing up. I loved mowing my lawn when I was younger. Something about being outside...

I have little boys right now and whenever I'm out mowing, I think about the day they'll be doing this very thing! I LOVE to mow, but they'll probably be more than ready to take over! :)
