My word for 2011 is PEACE.
I posted about my history with one little word HERE including visual reminders and past projects for my words: appreciate, focus and be. My inspiration for olw comes from Ali Edwards and you can read more about it HERE.
During the end of 2010, peace kept calling out to me. I saw the word many places because of the season and even had it on my front door. It just seemed like the right focus for me for 2011.
I was thinking about some of my goals for 2011...
1) To nurture and create peace within some difficult relationships in my life.
2) To help the boys appreciate each other and treat each other with respect.
3) To be more thoughtful about my impact on the world.
4) To complete my dissertation.
Peace seemed to be the theme that emerged from these goals.
Peace within myself, inner peace, seeking peacefulness and a calm in my heart, nurturing peace around me - with family, in my work and in the world.
With my crafty friends, I made some visual reminders of my word to have both at home and at work. I've also registered for Ali Edward's online class this year...the first time it has been offered. Each month Ali posts prompts to keep us thinking about our word all year. This month, we did our title page for an album that will hold all the responses to the prompts and we also defined our word clearly for ourselves on these little 2x3 cards.
My dear crafty friends gave me a lovely gift certificate to The Vintage Pearl as a gift. I ordered a family circle necklace as well as a peace bracelet. I love them both. I have found that wearing a piece of jewellery with my word on it gives me a physical reminder during the day.
